The story, the mission, and the professional standard we are building together.
The Professional Independent Mobile Contractor Alliance™ (PIMCA™) was founded by Lorna D. Morton, a licensed Virginia nail technician and the founder of 2Smiley Feet, one of Richmond's established mobile foot care services.
After years of operating as a solo mobile provider — navigating facilities, managing high-risk clients, and working without any professional infrastructure — Lorna recognized a critical gap: there was no professional home for mobile manicurists and pedicurists.
No certification that spoke to the realities of mobile care. No standard that guided infection control in home environments. No credential that facilities could trust when evaluating contracted providers. PIMCA™ was built to fill that gap.
The Alliance is organized as a Virginia 501(c)(6) nonprofit corporation — a professional membership organization, not a charity — built to serve the professionals who provide mobile nail and foot care as a legitimate business, with legitimate standards.
Every standard we set, every provider we certify, every protocol we publish reflects an uncompromising commitment to client safety and professional honesty.
Certified professionals know what they are trained to do — and what must be referred. Proper scope protects everyone.
Every client — regardless of age, condition, or setting — deserves care delivered with full professional respect and warmth.
Professional work leaves a paper trail. PIMCA™ providers document intake, care notes, and incidents — because that is what professionals do.
Mobile care delivered in clients' homes — the foundation of the independent provider business model.
Contracted providers serving residents in assisted living communities — requires Professional certification.
Specialized environments requiring advanced observation, patience, and behavioral awareness protocols.
High-acuity care settings where documentation, infection control, and scope management are especially critical.
Lorna built 2Smiley Feet into a trusted mobile foot care service before founding PIMCA™ to address the professional infrastructure gap she experienced firsthand.
